Food was amazing, service was great. Thanks for making my 30th birthday special! Will def be back here soon.
If you like Italian with a modern twist, this is hands down the best place to go in Little Italy! Everything G&G offers is delicious. Their pizzas are to die for and their pastas are perfectly al dente and seasoned to perfection. There are a great variety of vegetarian options, and lots of exciting ingredients to zest up traditional dishes, like pistachio in pesto, peppercinis and truffles on mushroom pizza, two types of Arancini balls--nothing is bland or dull. Also love their drinks, which are great for summer, their atmosphere has a rustic wooden setting with gorgeously decorated high ceilings. Hosts were friendly and service was very attentive. Highly recommend coming with a group and ordering a bunch of items to try!
This was a fun spot, located right in the heart of little Italy. We had a nice table outside and enjoyed a few different pasta dishes. The service was pretty good - they seemed a bit busy even at 4:30 pm, but nothing to complain about. We ordered the Vongle pasta and Truffle Pacchieri. They were really tasty.
The service here was three stars, the cocktails were mediocre, but the food was dynamite, so five stars it is. First off, the host was super nice and accommodating and gave be a great table straddling the indoor/outdoor section. So I wasn't hot and in the sun, but I was cool and still getting to enjoy the breeze outside. Very bright and airy. She did this even though I didn't have a reservation on a Friday night. And to get the "meh" out of the way, I had a couple of different servers, both of which kinda ignored me for the most part, to the point I had to ask the busboy for another drink. They were nice when they were present, but they just weren't attentive. And I'm not some demanding jerk . . . but when I need a drink refill or the check, it would be nice if they were around at some point. First, the bruschetta was the best I've had in as long as I can remember. In so many places, the bread is limp, the tomatoes are bland, and the flavors are lacking. The bread here was crisp. It had stracciatella, basil, and balsamic. The flavors were savory and delicious. This bruschetta was SO good that when I had cruddy bruschetta at another venue the next day, I was almost MAD. I also had the campanile alla vodka, made with basil, parmigiana, and chili flakes. Flavorful and the perfect al dente texture. All of the pasta dishes here look amazing--fettuccine bolognese, pistachio pesto, braised lamb campanile, spaghetti pomodoro, cacio e Pepe, spaghetti puttanesca. All savory pastas with complex flavor profiles. I would try all of them! They also have salads (spicy kale caesar, charred wedge) and main dishes like Branzino, grilled hanger steak, chicken parm, chicken piccata, grilled bluefin tuna. Though in my opinion, you'd be selling yourself short to go with a meat dish over a pasta dish here. They have cocktails, but they were an afterthought, and I would have been better served by ordering wine. I have to stop ordering cocktails at Italian places. I'm a cocktail connoisseur, but I need to get it through my thick skull that Italian food is best accompanied by wine. The service wasn't amazing (aside from the very helpful hostess), but the food was great, and I would definitely come back.
Amazing food, and even better staff. Best ambiance I've found in the area. Be sure to try the Truffle Pacchieri as it was definitely the highlight of the night. I'll definitely be back.
My partner and I recently dined at this charming Italian restaurant, and while our experience was overwhelmingly positive, a few minor issues prevented it from being perfect. Ambiance and Service: The restaurant boasts a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening out. However, the wait staff, although friendly, was a bit absent at times. We found ourselves waiting longer than expected for refills and to place additional orders. This slight lack of attentiveness was the only notable drawback in an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. The Food: The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the food. We started with the Bresaola & Fig and Tomato Caprese bruschettas. The fig component of the bruschetta stood out with its rich, delightful flavor, complementing the bresaola perfectly. The Tomato Caprese was fresh and flavorful, providing a classic taste that didn't disappoint. For our main course, we shared the prosciutto pizza and the pistachio pesto pasta. The prosciutto pizza was outstanding, with perfectly melted mozzarella and a wonderfully soft dough that had just the right amount of chewiness. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, making it an instant favorite. The pistachio pesto pasta was another delicious dish. The pesto sauce was rich and creamy, though we found the pistachio flavor a bit subtle and harder to distinguish. Despite this minor critique, the pasta was well-cooked and flavorful, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail. Conclusion: Overall, this restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with a few areas for improvement in service. The delicious food, particularly the prosciutto pizza and the fig bruschetta, makes it a worthwhile visit. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to friends and family, hoping that next time the service matches the exceptional quality of the food. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. And I look forward to my next visit!
Love this place! The service quality is excellent, the vibes are comfy, and the food is truly amazing. I'm making sure to record these outstanding cuisines so that I can re-experience them all on my next visit. Crispy Calamari: Not your ordinary dish! It's perfectly fried, devoid of any oily feeling. Plus, they've added some artichoke & haricot vert to create a harmonious balance. (Make a wish here - throw in more vegies, they match so well!) Prosciutto Pizza & Pistachio Pesto Pasta: Both were good choices. Their pizzas and pastas are consistently great. Truffle Pacchieri: Prepare to be wowed! The truffle flavor is incredibly rich--I could practically smell it wafting from the kitchen. Also it is so dense and creamy - you'll love its texture. Speakeasy-Like Bar Area: Hidden in the basement, it's a gem waiting to be explored. Perfect for chilling with friends. My mouth waters just reminiscing about it!
Gelso & Grand had good reviews so I decided to check it out. As soon as I entered, I could tell that the ambiance was very romantic. Lights were dimmed and decor was very nice. I went around 8pm and there were plenty of tables available, but the 2 person table was a bit small for the size of the menu and it was very close to the other table. We ordered the spicy Inferno pizza which was delicious. They did not have the frozen peachy frose, so we ordered the rose sangria and forbidden fruit sangria which were good and not too sweet. Staff was very attentive, always refilling waters and checking in if we needed anything. I would definitely come back to try out more options from the menu.
Every time I pass through Little Italy and pass by place, I've always wanted to step inside and grab a bite. The interior is charming with rustic decor, and the staff are really friendly. For starters, we tried the meatballs and crispy octopus, both of which were delicious. The complimentary bread was also really good. For my main dish, I had to go with a house made pasta, so so I went with the campanelle alla vodka, which was perfectly flavorful and just the right portion size. It didn't feel too heavy like some alla vodka dishes can be. Campanelle might now be one of my favorite pastas. My mom had the brunch smoked salmon pizza. The pizza dough was perfectly crispy and delicious. The only minor issue was that our waitress seemed to vanish for about 10 minutes at a time, which meant we had to flag her down often. It wasn't too busy, so it was a bit puzzling why there were delays in taking our orders. However, aside from that, we had a wonderful time and I would definitely return!
